First, I wanna thank effuryone fur yur wunnerful Gotcha Day wishes! I hadded a great day. Momma and Daddy gotted me (us) a new skratchie pad and primo 'nip! And Dorydoo's sweetie Earl Grey of The Furry Kids sent her (us) a superduper package with two great catnippy toys! Us Ballicai have been playin and nippin out like crazy. Thankies so much, Earl! Our furriend Mickey the Black Cat taggied us fur the Cold Box Meme! "Show us a photo of the front of your Cold Box and tell us about at least one thing on it and one thing you keep inside of it!"

Okeydokeys, here goes:



As you can see, the front of our cold box is purretty bare. There's a can openur, a couple of bag clippie things, a postie card frum a friend of Momma's, a kool magnet frum The Cat Realm, and a purretty kitty magnet frum our gramma.

Ya know what? It's my fault that the front of our cold box is so bare.

Before I came to live here, Momma hadded more stuffies on the cold box. But once I came here, I found out that I like to jump up on top of the cold box, reach down as far as I kould reach (that's purretty far!), and whap efurrything offa the front of it. So Momma hadded to take a lot of things off so I wouldn't whap 'em off and lose 'em, and as you can see, what little she does keep up there, she keeps way down low on the cold box, out of my whapping range.

In the extra-cold part of the cold box, the beans keep ice cream treats (the bean version of Temptayshuns, I think), and in the regular part of the cold box, they keep oranges. I don't get why the beans like oranges so much.

1. Brainball likes sittin on Momma's desk. Sometimes Momma props her feet up on her desk when she's workin and he lays on 'em. And he likes to take bathies up there. He's Momma's snoopervisor. Since he's the Alpha, it's his job to keep her in line.



2. Dorydoo often sits like the Egyptshun Sphinx, with her pawsies out in frunt of her! She also likes to get undur the cofurs all the way. When she does this, we call her a Dorylump.



3. Marilyn has rotatin sleep spots. Well, othur than sleepin in laps, which she loves. But when Momma and Daddy can't make laps, Marilyn snoozes in her Spot of the Week. This week, it's a big carboard box, and Momma putted a fleece coat in there for her to snooze on:

My sistur, Marilyn MonREOW, started a meme on her bloggie called True Kitty Confessions where we gotta confess naughty stuff we do. The roolz are to write as many things as we want, any way we wanna write 'em, and tag as many kitties as we want.



And Marilyn thinks I'm gonna have a list as long as War and Peace. (I guess that's a really long bookie.) Well, I'll show her!

1. I taught myself how to open da kitchen kabinet doors. I can get in there and nose around all I want to, and I usually do it when Momma and Daddy are sleepin'.

2. I like to try to shred the shower kurtain.

3. I knock stuff off Momma and Daddy's desks. All kindsa little thingies. Like the motorcycle key, Momma's pens and pencils, all kindsa stuffies, and I bat 'em all over the house and sometimes underneath stuff where Momma and Daddy have gotta fish 'em out.

4. Speaking of fishin', I love fishin' evil coffee stirrers outta Momma and Daddy's coffee muggies which wouldn't be so naughty except sometimes I come close to tippin' the mugs over. My beans keep a close watch on their mugs while they're drinkin' their coffee!

5. I love playin' with the laces on Daddy's boots. I get holda the laces and sometimes I get so nutsy I pull his boot around on the floor. Daddy don't mind, though. He usedta try to stuff the laces down in his boots, but I'd just stuff myself down in his boot and pull the laces out anyways.

6. I like to shred the paper towels close to Momma and Daddy's desks (Marilyn takes care of the paper towels in da kitchen).

7. I jump up on the counter when Momma's cookin'. Sometimes me and Marilyn make an ambush of it -- I come at Momma from one side while Marilyn's coming at her from the other, and we try to do our ambush when Momma's hands are full, givin' us a better chance of gettin' at alla that FOOD. Brainball and Dorydoo are a little more laid back about people food, but Marilyn and me are FOODIEMONSTERS!

8. Unless Momma makes up the bed real tight, I like to wad myself down in the kovers and scratch on the mattress.

9. I like pullin' the drainstops outta the sinks which wouldn't be a big deal except sometimes I get so excited that I knock 'em all the way out and they wind up in some purr-etty funny places, hehehe.

10. I like playin' with my dry foodies -- I knock 'em outta my bowl and bat 'em all over the house, makin' like they're mousies, and eatin' 'em but not always eatin' 'em. Momma doesn't mind much, though, and thanks to me, she gets some extra exercise sweepin'.

11. I love the dishwasher thingie. When Momma's loadin' dishes, I like to get in there and lick them foodie dishes.

12. Every time Momma opens the dryer thingie, I try to get in there, but she won't let me in there, DAGNABBIT!

13. I try to climb the window blinds. Sometimes I break the ends of 'em, and sometimes I pull the whole shebangie down. Oopsie...

14. Sometimes I try to sharpen my claws on the big woofer thingie on Momma and Daddy's speakers.

15. I try to climb Momma and Daddy's legs. Come to think of it, they say OW, MAO! OW, MAO! OW, MAO! a whole lot...

16. I try to climb in the poopie bags when Momma's scoopin' out our boxes.

17. I get down in the trashcans, root around in there, and try to pull interesting-lookin' stuff out.

18. I love watchin' the toilet flushie. I stand on the seat and my head goes round and round and round as I watch the water swish down. Sometimes I lean down and bat at it and try to follow it. Momma and Daddy warn me I'm gonna fall in the toilet if I'm not careful.

19. I try to play with Brainball and Marilyn when they're usin' the litterbox. I don't mess with Dorydoo when she's on her throne though 'cause I know she'll swat me.

20. Lotsa times when Momma opens the fridgerator thingie, I try to get in it.

21. I try to get in Momma and Daddy's plates when they're eatin'.

22. When Momma's givin' Brainball and Marilyn their hairball remmedy, I try to lick it off before they can, hehehe!

23. And when anykitty barfs, I try to eat it.

Nyah nyah, Marilyn! My list ain't as long as no book, after all! Well, not quite as long... Anyhow, my beans are real patient with me, and Momma keeps tellin' my sisturs I'll settle down some when I get more growed up. (hmmmmm, I don't know if I will or not, hehehe!)

Dorydoo's Favorite Things

Okeydokey, I'm lettin' my other sister guest blog today. Brainball said Dorydoo could post about her favorite things if she wants to, so here she is! Dorydoo's closest to me in age -- she ain't even three years old yet. She's really intense and really smart, and she's a tomboy, too -- she loves rasslin' and playin' chase when she ain't workin' on her antigravity device.



What fun, my own blog post! Definitely enough to make me take a break from perfecting my antigravity device. I'm determined to be the first cat on the moon, you know. And when I get there, I'll squeak for joy! (I don't meow: I squeak, purr, chitter, chirp, and chatter, but I don't meow.)

Time of Day: Like the other Ballicai, I love Stinky Goodness time, but an extra special time for me is first thing in the morning before Momma gets out of bed. I like to walk around on her and lie on her hip and purr a lot, give her headbonkies, and squeak at her.

Day of the week: I can spaz out, jump, walk on air, work on my Black Kitty Projects, and pick on my brother MaoMao every day, so every day is a great day to be a cat! MaoMao really loves it when I squeak and shriek at him. Well, sometimes he doesn't. I'm just playing, though, most of the time, except for when he's really getting on my nerves. Brothers!

Season of the year: I like winter because the heaters are cozy. Heaters also afford me an excellent opportunity to study thermodynamics, which is crucial to understand if you are a physicist kitty like me and are working on defying gravity.

Holiday: I like Halloween because it's close to my birthday and lots of people put up pictures of kitties that look like me. Except I don't get why those kitties are always arching their backs. Are they mad because somebody has stolen their ideas for top secret Black Kitty Projects?

Beaches: A beach might be intriguing... I wonder if I could find a use for sand in my antigravity device?

Flower: I like hydrangea. It makes me think of globular clusters.

Talk show: Not a talk show, but I love Cosmos with Carl Sagan. Momma has it on DVD, and it's my favorite TV show ever.

Movie: Carl Sagan's Contact. I'm a kitty Ellie Arroway. After I go to the moon, I want to go to the center of the Galaxy!

Soaps: I don't need soap. I'm very good at baths.

Beverage: Tuna juice and good old H2O.

Fruit: Meh.

Brainball's Been Tagged!

My big floofmonster (Flooficus Monstriconus, Momma calls her) of a sistur Brainball's been taggied by my friends Mr. Chen & Ollie! hehehe, she's really excited. She's never been taggied before! So here's Brainball, in all her Brainballitude, and man oh man does my sistur have Brainballitude 'cause she's Big Bad (but nice, hehehe) Alpha Cat around here.



Brainball here. I'm pleased to be tagged! "Tag" sounds like play, and I do occasionally like to take time off from my Alphra Cat duties to play. So, here we go:

Time of Day: My very favorite time of day is when Mom dishes out Stinky Goodness, but while everybody goes berserk on the counter, I sit on the floor and wait patiently and with dignity as befits my status. And going berserk is tactically disadvantageous unless you are a Viking Warrior, and an Alpha Cat must always be at a tactical advantage, even a benevolent Alpha Cat like me. Another time of day I love is when Dad snacks on peanuts and gives me some. I love peanuts almost as much as I love stinky goodness.

Day of the week: Thursday, or "Thor's Day" (Thor = the Norse God of Thunder). I would love to be the Feline Goddess of Thunder. Quite befitting an Alpha Cat, don't you think?

Season of the year: Spring / summer, thereabouts. I love warm weather because more bugs and crawly-critters get into the house, and I like to keep my Mighty Huntress Skills sharp (pun on my claws definitely intended).

Holiday: Valentine's Day. Why? All right, if you insist, I'll show my soft side (other than all my fuzz, that is). Valentine's Day is close to my little brother Mao's Gotcha Day, and I love my little brother Mao. I have designated him as my Successor in the Ballicus Dynasty.

Beaches: Nah. It would seriously compromise my tactical effectiveness to get sand between my (very) furry toes. I would consider walking on a beach only if I had Feline Combat Boots.

Song: "Broadsword" by Jethro Tull.

Flower: I love the irises that grow all along the side of the house. I can see them through the living room window. I have to keep an eye on them, though. They would provide excellent cover for anyone who happened to be hiding there, and I am diligent about patrolling our perimeter and looking out for the safety of my grunts (that would be Mom, Dad, Dorydoo, Marilyn, and MaoMao).

Talk show: Talk, schmalk. I prefer action.

Movie: G. I. Jane. Movie about a woman who completes training to become a Navy Seal and kicks serious butt. And though everybody calls me Brainball, my real name is Calamity Jane.

Soaps: *out comes a hairball from the Brainball*, mmm, excuse me. Aspiring Navy Seal Amazon Womancats don't watch soaps.

Beverage: Everycat says this, but... tuna juice. But we Ballicai mainly drink water. Tuna juice is a treat. Can't drink tuna juice all the time. Discipline is important, after all.

Fruit: I ate a grape once. Mom and Dad laughed at the funny look on my face. I never ate another.

Snack: Peanuts, Pounce, peanuts, stinky goodness, peanuts. Can you tell I love peanuts? I don't eat too many of them, but I get them for a treat when Dad snacks on them.

Food: Felidae, stinky goodness, Pounce, beef liver, and... (you know it's coming) peanuts.

Restaurant: Anywhere that serves sweetmeats. And I don't mean hamburger with ice cream, either.

Time of Day: Stinky Goodness Time, after Momma gets up! The very second she gets outta bed I start hollerin', MAO! MAO! MAO! MAO! MAOMAOMAOMAOMAO! And Momma knows what that means: "I want my stinky goodness, I want my stinky goodness!"

Day of the week: I like every day of the week the same. There's always somethin' good to eat and always somethin' fun to play with.

Season of the year: I like winter 'cause I love layin' in front of the heater!

Holiday: I think groundhog day's really cool 'cause I'd like to meet a groundhog and play with him.

Beaches: What's a beach?

Flower: Daffy-dills.

Talk show: Don't watch no talk shows but I'd love to have one of my own. I think it'd be lotsa fun to get on camera and say MAO! MAO! MAO! MAOMAOMAO!

Movie: Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure. Party on, dude!

Soaps: I like soap. I like battin' it outta the soap holdin' thingie and knockin' it around the bathtubbie.

Beverage: tuna juice rocks.

Fruit: I kinda like naners a little bit. You know, that long yellow fruitie.

Snack: POUNCE!

Food: Stinky goodness, stinky goodness, and stinky goodness. And yeah, dry food, Pounce, and any yummy human foods I can get my pawsies on. I LOVE FOOD!!!!

1. I'm a klutz. Momma doesn't call it that, she calls me a cute little long-leggied boykitty. But I gotta face facts: I'm a klutz. I'm always runnin' over the toppa myself, especially when I'm goin' real, real fast, and sometimes, like when I get all worked up over gettin' stinky goodness, I can't keep track of where my feets are at all.

2. I talk. A whole lot. More than any of the other Ballicai. I'm especially chatty in the mornin' when Momma and Daddy get up. I holler at 'em, MAO! MAO! MAO! MAOMAOMAOMAO! I get my name, Chairman Mao, from how I talk, hehehe.

3. I love goin' to the bathroom with Momma and Daddy, and I double-love watchin' the toilet flush. I jump on it and hunker down real low, then I move my head round and round and round as I watch the water swishin' down the john. Once I got so caught up in watchin' the water that I just about fell in. Oopsie!

4. I like gettin' down under the covers with Momma and Daddy. Sometimes I work myself all the way to the bottom of the bed and they can see a MaoMao-shaped lumpie down there. I don't stay too long, though. I ain't much on sittin' still unless I'm sleepin'. Sitting still is booooooo-ring.

5. I love makin' friends. I'm especially good with other cats, and I like beans, too, 'cept I'm just a little bitty bit shy when I first meet 'em. And I love and adore my big sister Brainball. I'm always pouncin' on her, ambushin' her, and rasslin' with her, and I guess I kinda drive her crazy but she never gets mad at me, even though she's plenty older than me and gets tired quicker than I do.

6. I have niftycool silver paw paddies. Momma sez I'm the only kitty she's ever met who's got paw paddies that color.

7. I'm a bundle of energy. I'm always zippin' here and there, this way and that, climbin' up stuff, explorin' everywhere to see what-all I can get into. If I find somethin' fun to play with then I'm real happy, and I'm even happier if I find somethin' tasty to eat. Hey, you never know what you'll find when you're advenchurous!

Well-Balanced Ballicai

Chairman MaoMao here. And cool beanz, me and my sisters got tagged by Caesar to do a life-balance meme! And speakin' of balance, here's a picture of me and my big sister Brainball playin' in and around a box. All of us Ballicai are boxcats, and goodness knows you've gotta keep your balance when you're playin' and rasslin' around boxes!

This'll be the first time my sisters have talked on the blog -- they're all excited and stuff!

How Do you Achieve Balance in Your Life?

MaoMao: Well, I don't have a lot of balance, really. I'm a little bit klutzy but Momma and Daddy say it's 'cause I'm a gangly adolescent boykitty. I'm always fallin' over my feet and sometimes I bump into stuff 'cause I get excited when I'm playin'.

Brainball: Balance? Well, I'm a great big cat, and I have to be careful. I'm also Alpha cat around here, and I've got my dignity to think about. It never looks good for the Alpha Cat to fall on her fuzzy butt. So the way I achieve balance is to move slowly, like a lion on the savanna, and keep a careful eye out for obstacles.

Marilyn MonREOW: *purrrrr* Hmmm, well... balance. If I weren't such a balanced kitty, I wouldn't be able to jump the way I can. I put my tail out just so, move it just so, and I can get purr-etty much anywhere I want and look glamorous doing it. Looking glamorous is part of being well-balanced, you know.

Dorydoo: I am the most balanced cat in the world. I'm an AcroCat. I can jump and leap so well it's like I can fly. I'm so balanced that I believe I may be the world's only flying kitty. Maybe I could even be the first cat in space. I'd like to see space. I like studying things and figuring them out.


What is your biggest challenge in balancing your life?

MaoMao: My long legs. They're longer than I am, and I trip over 'em so much. Maybe they'll catch up with me one of these days.

Brainball: My great big fuzzy body. When it comes to jumping, my size puts me at a tactical disadvantage. But boy have I ever got a bad-ass swipe with my big paws.

Marilyn MonREOW: Well, sometimes I think too much about how I look when I'm jumping, and that can throw me off balance. A girl's got to look glamorous, you know. *Purrrrr.*

Dorydoo: Gravity, dang it and drat it.


What are your Priorities?

MaoMao: Playin' and spazzin' and spazzin' and playin'. Figurin' out what-all I can get into around here. Lovin' on momma and daddy. Killin' coffee stirrers. Sniffin' my sisters' butts. Ambushing Brainball 'cause she's so much fun to play with.

Brainball: Letting my sisters and little brother know who's boss (me, of course -- I'm Ballicus I of the Ballicus Dynasty) but being good to them, too, because I like them so much. Momma calls me a gentle giant. Getting rubs from Daddy and napping on Momma's feet.

Marilyn MonREOW: Keeping my distance from the other Ballicai. They might mess up my hair. Cuddling on Momma and Daddy's laps every chance I can. Momma and Daddy never mess up my hair and they pet me and kiss me a lot. *Purrrrrrr*, I love kissies, both giving them and getting them. Smooch!

Dorydoo: Jumping up to the very highest points in the house because I want to be the first cat in space. Chatting with Momma and Daddy and cuddling with them. Fussing at Mao because I don't want his yucky old boycooties, keeping my distance from that prissy-pot Marilyn, and taking cuddly naps with Brainball, who is my friend.


How have your priorities changed over the time and why?

MaoMao: Well, when I was a stray kitty, survival was my biggest priority. Now that I'm in my wonderful home with momma and daddy, my priorities are lovies and playin'. And keepin' the house free of evil coffee stirrers as much as I can. And pullin' out all of the drainstops in the house.

Brainball: I used to be a stray cat, too, a long time ago after horrible people abandoned me. But after Momma and Daddy adopted me, things changed. I'm loved, I love Momma and Daddy, and I'm the trusted Alpha Cat of the house. I take my responsibilities as Ballicus I very seriously, and I know Momma and Daddy are proud of me because I handle my responsibilities so well.

Marilyn MonREOW : I was a stray cat for a while, too. Surviving on my own made me lonely, and oh dear, did it ever mess up my hair. But now my biggest priorities are lovies, huggies, and kissies, and that's the way it ought to be. *singing*: I want to be loved by you; boo boop de boop... *purrrrrrr*....

Dorydoo: Momma and Daddy raised me from a kitten, so I can't say my priorities have changed much except to want to jump higher and higher and farther and farther and learn how to pop tops and open doors and cabinets -- I love brain challenges. And loving and being loved by Momma and Daddy is grand.


What advice can you share to help all of us balance our own lives?

MaoMao: Watch out for your leggies. They can trip you up if they're goin' a different place from where your brain's wantin' to go.

Brainball: Be practical, and be tactical. There's a reason those words rhyme.

Marilyn MonREOW: *purrrrrr* Look your best and always show the camera your prettiest side.

Dorydoo: Life is a leap of faith, so go for the farthest and the highest.

Momma didn't say "Stinky Goodness, Turkey Flavor" to get me to open my eyes for this picture 'cause she thought I looked cute, sleepin' so snug in the recliner.

My furr-iend Mr. Hendrix the Kitty tagged me for a meme. Goody, memes are fun, and I like to play tag. It's right up there with playin' chase and rasslin' with my big sister Brainball and battin' at her fuzzy britches! In this meme, I'll tell everybodies five reasons why I blog.

1. On her writing bloggie, Momma participates in the Thursday Thirteen meme. She likes it because she finds neat-o new bloggies that way. Well, one of the neat-oest bloggies Momma found on Thursday Thirteen was Kimo and Sabi's bloggie. She started leavin' comments on their bloggie, and when she introduced me on her writing bloggie, Kimo and Sabi came over to meet me, then they introduced me on their bloggie to the kitty bloggiesphere! Isn't that nice of 'em? They're such great fellers. I was like, wowie -- my new friends have so much fun with this kittiebloggie thing that I've gotta try it out, too.

2. Momma already had this Ballicus Bloggie up and runnin' as her kitty bloggie, so she let me pretty much take it over as the Bloggin' Ballicus. My sisters, Marilyn, C.J., and Dorydoo, are showin' more interest, so they might start doin' some bloggin', too, one of these days.

3. I'm a ham. I don't mean I'm a pig, I'm a cat, most defurr-nitely. But I'm a cat ham. I'm really super-duper-pooper-scooper outgoing, and I love meeting new kitties, new people, new everybodies. I love to have fun. And on the bloggiesphere, there's a whole new world of kitties and people to meet!

4. It's often said in this household that "MaoMao's spazzing" or "MaoMao's bugging out" or "MaoMao's wired." I'm a superhyper, high-energy adolescent boykitty, and when I go on a tear, boy do I ever go on a tear! And this bloggiefying stuff gives a neat-o second level of meaning when Momma and Daddy say "Maoknocker's wired." Because I am wired, to the entire kitty bloggiesphere! hehehehe

5. I'm real adventurous and I love learnin' new things. Technology is still a new frontier for many kittycats out there. Some kitties think that 'cause they don't have opposable thumbs or somethin' that they can't do cool technological stuffies. Well, I'm here to tell you that you can! All of you bloggiekitties know that, of course. So bloggiekitties unite and teach other kitties all about 'puters, too! Maybe someday kitties will be the most technologically savvy, wired, blogiferous critters on the planet! There'll be BoingBoing for Ballicai, Yahoo will be named Meow-who, and CNN will stand for the Cat News Network! Hey, it could happen, don'tchy'all think? Just thinkin' about it makes me purr.

I'd agree with all of those! I'm casual, honest, and active, and Momma and Daddy say I'm irresistable, refreshing and amazing. Sometimes, though, I'm naughty, my meow is musical, and I like to think I'm alluring, quite the Gentlecat.
