Big, Long Post to Come About Brainball...

...but I'm going to need to get some sleep first. The Ballicus Mom here -- this cat mom hasn't gotten a lot of sleep these last couple of days. Brainball, who had been doing so well, got sick again suddenly last Thursday night/Friday morning and was rushed to the vet on Friday morning.

The diagnosis: bronchitis, conjuncitivis, fever and dehydration -- Brainball received subcutaneous fluids for the dehydration, antibiotic and steroid injections for the other ailments. Brainball is now home, and will be receiving medication: steroid pills, antibiotics pills, eyedrops. Prognosis is good.

But being a worried cat mom, I am deeply concerned that Brainball's appetite is so poor. Brainball was just brought home Friday evening -- seems better, but still doesn't want to eat anything but tuna and tuna juice (but, thankfully, is pretty enthusiastic about that). That's fine; I'm just glad Brainball is eating some, but I would like to ask for advice anybody has on helping a cat with a low appetite to eat.

I guess I should clarify -- since Brainball has been back from the vet, it isn't so much low appetite as it is bronchitis lowering sense of smell. For a cat, sense of smell is crucial to appetite. So any advice anyone has on tempting a cat with bronchitis to eat and drink better would be more than welcomed. And of course, Brainball's medications and continued treatment at home will improve matters with the bronchitis, too, thereby hopefully helping appetite to return to normal.

And boy oh boy, does Brainball have a story to tell the Cat Blogosphere *grin* along with giving more of the medical details -- but for now, more purrs would be deeply appreciated. Lots of love to all from the Ballicus Mom and all the Ballicai.

Thanks MaoMao, sweet boy, for letting Mom blog.

Purrs Needed for Brainball

My big sistur's feelin' off-kilter today, and if she doesn't get better fast, she's goin' to the v.e.t. tomorrow. I'd appreshiate it if efurrybody could purr and purr and purr for her.

She's sleepin' a lot, isn't eating or drinking good, and hasn't been to the bafroom good (ecksept for a little bit of poo and a little pile of diarrhea). She didn't efun want stinky goodness at stinky goodness time, but she got up fur just a short time later, and Momma tried to get her to eat some stinky goodness again, and that time she ated and drunked a little. Thank goodness.

But she just ain't right, and it's lookin' like she'll be headed fur the vet's tomorrow.

Your purrs and good thoughts would be furry appreshiated.

An uppiedate, 11:00 p.m. on Sunday: Brainball gotted up and was hungry and started eatin' a good bit of her dry foodies. Mom has thought maybe Brainball was havin' some trubble with konstipashun and hairballs -- she's prone to both, but usually it don't get bad cuz Momma gives her hairball remmedy efurry day and lets her drink outta the sink whenefur she wants.

So if Brainball's tryin' to pass a hairball (or if Hairball's tryin' to pass a Brainball, hehe), Momma figyured Brainball could use some extra flooid to help things move along. So to make a long story short, alla us Ballicai got some TOONA and TOONA JOOCE and Brainball ated her share! We were all glad to see that. She follered her toona snackie with a good grooming sesshun and didn't barf it up or nothin', and now Brainball's gone back into the bedroom for a nap.

So we hope she's feelin' bettur, but what she still needs is a good baffroom trip. Keep those purrs comin', and thankies so much. We Ballicai love you all -- you kitties are wunnerful furriends.

Anofur uppiedate, Monday 1:08 a.m.: Brainball continues to feel bettur -- after her toona nap, she gotted up and ate some more dry foodies. Then guess what -- she used the baffroom! Momma was so happy she dancied around the living room, then she cried cuz she was so happy, and then she dancied around the living room again! And then me and Marilyn and Dorydoo went right in the same litterboxie Brainball had used and peed after her, we were so happy -- it was kind of a Pee and Poo Paw-tay, hehehe. Us Ballicai have been real down inna dumpies cuz of worryin' about Brainball, all day we've been quiet and sleepin' close by her and stuff.

Brainball's acktin' a lot more Brainballish (which is furry good, since she's a Brainball and all!), and though Momma's gonna keep a close eye on her, it's lookin' like she just might improove enough to where she don't hafta go to the vet aftur all. Keep yur paws crossed that she keeps on gettin' bettur -- and words just can't do justice to how much we appreshiate yur friendship and all yur purrayers and purrs and purrs! We love Brainball so much -- she's beautiful, fun, our furry bestest friend, a wunnerful Alpha Cat, but most of all, she's our Good Ol' Brainball.

Anofur uppiedate, 12:40 p.m.: Brainball's efun MORE Brainballish, yay, yay, yay! Alla us Ballicai and Momma and Daddy are so, so, so glad. She's been doin' her usual stuffies today -- she asked for her malt remedy and her treatsies when Momma got up, she did her round of patrols, then she took a bathie inna bathtub like she likes to do, she was with alla us Ballicai at stinky goodness time to eat her stinky goodness. And now she's happily Brainballin' around the housie (that's what Momma and Daddy call it, when Brainball goes on her patrols). Things are looking furry good (Momma's knockin' on wood, hehe), and it's lookin' like Brainball won't have to go to the v.e.t. but Momma'll continue to keep a close eye on her to make sure she's gettin' all bettur. What a beautiful sight: a Brainball on Patrol!
